New School Year

I love this time of year. The sudden heavy dews on the morning. The crisp chill in the air. New books and pencils. Shiny school shoes.

Josh/Hazelburrow/Evilburrow is back at school. I’m sure he’ll keep blogging, but he has to put school and homework first, otherwise I hide the cheese. (Josh is a minor cheese freak, which is harsh because I LOVE cheese but I can’t eat it anymore – it makes me fat. Bah!)

Warriors-related news: I start Tallstar’s Revenge in October which I’m very excited about because I don’t think we’ve ever gotten to know WindClan properly and they have a  reputation as stand-offish and weak. I will change this. WindClan shall become as heroic as ThunderClan, ShadowClan and RiverClan! And then I start work on Dawn of the Clans, Book 3. Hurray! At last I get to find out what’s been going on at the beginning of cat-time.

Survivors  had a fabulous reception – well done, Gillian Philip! :D I’m  waiting for a copy so I can read it. I’m looking forward to plunging into dog-world.

Our editor at HarperCollins was thrilled with my first Seekers manuscript, River of Lost Bears, so I’m hoping to write another next year. I really fell in love with those bears. They were already fabulous characters, thanks to Vicky, Cherith and Tui.

Right now, I’m working on the last book in my series of pre-teen chick-lit, which I’m writing. It’s great to write comedy romance! Such fun :)

The beginning of a new school year … as a teacher it’s always stressful, exhausting, and exciting. We’ve been in session for just over 3 weeks, and I love my group of third graders. I’m hoping to turn them into Warrior Kids by the second half of the year when they’re a little more mature and can better appreciate the clans’ struggles and conflicts. All would be well if not for the fact that my nine year old Maine Coon kitty, Tabby, has an aggressive form of cancer growing on her upper lip. What a shock. Surgery will give her a year to a year and a half of good quality life, but there is no cure. I am so worried about her.

hello again… man sophomore year really has a lot of homework. I reaaalllly wanna read Mistystar’s Omen!!! i’ll look for a PDF version of the book to read :) AND YOU ARE FINALLY DOING A TALLSTAR BOOK!!!!!! :D ! i freaking love Tallstar! and im glad im going to get to know more about him.

in my personal life, i am, sadly, reporting that on sunday my great aunt passed away. Surprisingly a lot of my teachers have given me hugs. I missed school on Thursday to attend her funeral. Im also in Theatre so im reaaallly busy and unable to have much free time. I really love my Pre drill class, and we ‘re starting to train for the auditions for the dance team, Silver Stars. And so far, my football team has lost miserably to all the games. As you may know of, i could care less about school spirit so i merely am like “IM RIGHT TO NOT HAVE ANY SCHOOL SPIRIT!” Right now im actually in my World History class, i finished my work and therefore get to play on the computer. However, the only complaint is that the chapter was ALLL stuff i already know. so it is basically a review for me. well… i think thats it… and she’s calling us historians… gotta go. Byes!

Here’s an update on my kitty, Tabby – She came home today after surgery to remove the tumor on her upper lip. The surgeon did a great job considering how huge the tumor was, but she looks so strange without her whiskers and freckles. I’m going to have to ask if her whiskers will grow back with her fur… I just hope going through this buys her more time. We’ll know when the pathology report comes back in about a week. Tabby is the sweetest kitty even though she looks just like a furrier version of Tigerclaw. Thanks, Selena, for your good wishes. Does anyone know if Kate ever found her missing cat? I’ve been thinking about how horrible she must feel.
